Jun 21, 2009. #1. Hello, I have a 1967 John Deere 4020. About a month ago, I decided that I would fix the fuel gauge on it. I bought a new sensor from AI Products and I bought a new gauge from them also. When I installed them, the gauge would show about 3/4 full whether it was empty or full.

The early 4520's had air cleaner problems and serious injector problems but that was staightened out early. The 4520 was the first J.D. with a turbo charger. J.D. built the 4020 and needed a bigger tractor so they built the 4520 in 1969 and 1970 they turbocharged the 404 and made other improvements to handle the extra horsepower.1. The white wire spade was broken off from behind the switch. 2. Checked my wires for voltage with the key off- The blue, and brown are hot 12v's. I have a grey wire that is dim hot with my test light - meter showed 2v's. The rest of the wires were dead with the key off (grn, dbl black, broken white).If it's a side console tractor it can be in the PTO valve. 4-Plate on the bottom of the rockshaft housing is cracked or loose. 5-possibly an internal leak in the main pump, but not likely. 40/20vision. The later early models and on only have 2 reverse gears that are sped up. The the early ones, 1st reverse is the same speed as 3rd forward, 2nd reverse is like 5th and 3rd reverse is like 7th. I push the starter button and I hear the starter motor turning but the bendix does not engage the flywheel... or it is every so slightly engaging that it doesn't even sound like it's grinding.
